Token_Internet_Girl writes "Fewer than two weeks after Best Buy offered the first Full 3D HDTVs for sale in the US, its latest Sunday circular (3/21/10) promotes a Samsung 3D TV deal consisting of a 55" 3D TV, 3D capable Blu-ray player, 2 pairs of glasses, a Blu-ray movie and Geek Squad delivery and installation. The ad states the service includes TV and Blu-ray player set-up, connection to your wireless network and 'sync your 3D glasses for an amazing experience.' The package price lists the 'geek' services as a $150 value. The offer's only problem is that there is no such thing as syncing 3D glasses. They sync automatically." Here's Best Buy Corporate's response to this hilarity.

Filed under: HD DVD, Players, ToshibaWal-Mart may have been the first to tempt HD-fence-sitters with a $100 HD-A2 player (however limited), but it looks like it's not the only one, with Best Buy now also listing the very same player for the impulse buy-inducing price of $99.99. Of course, it's sold out online, so you may be better off trying your luck at your local store. Not surprisingly, the HD-DVD PR folk are keen to talk up this recent spat of price reductions, including the still decent $197 price for the A2 at Circuit City and Amazon, and Sears's Black Friday price of $169 for the newer HD-A3 model, which also comes with two movies bundled in the box (not to mention the five free mail-in movies available with the purchase of any of the players).[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | CommentsSource: http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/11/01/best-buy-offers-the-toshiba-hd-a2-for-100-too-and-other-hd-dv/ Donald Melanson http://www.softwareheadlines.com/modules/planet/view.article.php/234931
Meer: More Wallpaper: Newton Users, the Wait is Over for You Too | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Gizmodo | 2007-06-29 12:21:51
We published our 20 exclusive iPhone wallpapers collection yesterday, but this one just beats them all for pure comedy effect. Reader Taz Goldstein, one of the first Newton adopters back in 1993, has sent this great background for all other Newton users who have been waiting for an Apple-designed replacement since forever. The question: is iPhone really a Newton replacement?
While Taz is getting an iPhone, for some Newton diehards the Apple JesusPhone won't be a replacement. Some will say that even if it has color and has a great design, it just doesn't have the many things that made the Newton an amazing product.
It lacks the concept of "data soup" and it doesn't have a public SDK, so no third-parties can extend it. Thanks to this, the lively Newton community has developed hacks that have pushed it into the Internet era (no Flash-video support yet, though), showing that the grandaddy of PDAs still can beat them all.
However, the fact is that the iPhone, while simpler than Newton, it's an extremely powerful device. Much more than the Newton ever was. Its software is more accessible to normal users than the Newton's; it runs an extremely fast operating system and, most importantly, it has a phone and built-in Wi-Fi, which is reason enough to make it a better communicator than the Newton. A product for the masses, rather than a niche wonder.
And looking at the waiting lines and the media frenzy, I'm going to get my hazy crystal ball out and say that there's another thing in which the iPhone is better than the Newton: this one won't flop.

Meer: Best Buy & Circuit City Report Strong Demand for Vista | rss feed | toevoegen | e-mail nieuwsalarm | Neowin.net | 2007-04-05 03:40:24
Best Buy Company Incorporated and Circuit City Stores Incorporated have both reported high demand for Windows Vista in their retail stores. In separate earnings statements, the two retail companies said that PCs with Vista preinstalled have been selling well since the January 30 release. However, while this drove sales of PCs and computer services up 10% at Best Buy, Circuit City was affected negatively because it did not keep enough Vista PCs in stock to meet customer demand. News from retailers drove Microsoft stock (MSFT) up more than 3 percent on Wednesday at midday Eastern Daylight Time. The opening price was $28; by 12:35 p.m. EDT stock was trading for $28.73.Best Buy said sales of Vista helped it gain market share in laptop and desktop computer sales. The company reported positive results for its fiscal fourth quarter, with profit that rose more than 18% year over year. Circuit City, on the other hand, reported a US$12.2 million loss for the quarter, and admitted sales were less than expected. The company acknowledged in a news statement it was negatively affected by "volatility" around the Vista sales transition due to the fact it kept its Vista PC inventory "lean" and so could not fulfill customer demand.
